Free Directory Assistance (411) Calls

Free411 offers free directory assistance calls that otherwise cost $1.00 or more depending on your provider. Just dial 1-800-Free411. The catch: you have to listen to a 15 second advertisement that may be related to what you're looking for (i.e. a Dominos ad if you're looking for a pizza joint).

Is it worth your while? If you're a lawyer making $400 an hour, it might not be worth your time to listen to a 15 second ad since you make about $1.67 every 15 seconds while saving less by using Free411. For the rest of us, it makes sense.

Telecoms should be running scared. All of their profit centers are getting hit. First it was Skype, and now it's proliferated to encompass more specialized services. What's next?
