Wow!: Microsoft Announces Surface Touchscreen Table Computer
Surface that just might do the trick.
At its core, Surface is basically a touchscreen computer embedded into a tabletop.
The videos on the Surface website depict some cool things you can do with the device like editing photos or ordering drinks at a cafe using ordinary gestures and touches. The product can also detect when certain objects are placed on it like glasses or mobile phones and display information or react accordingly.
The first applications of Surface will be in retail establishments like restaurants as well as hotels and other public entertainment venues. You should see them appearing later this year, costing about $10,000 a pop.
If you're in New York on June 9, the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers is apparently hosting the first public exhibition of Surface.
