Joe Barron: Prestonwood Baptist Church Minister
Gullible Joe Barron
Joe Barron has been arrested in an Internet sex sting operation in Bryan, Texas. The minister of the Prestonwood Baptist Church was snared after agreeing to meet a "13-year-old girl" he chatted with online. The 52-year-old minister and grandfather is being charged with "online solicitation of sex with a minor."
On May 15, the gullible Joe Barron drove almost 200 miles from Plano, Texas, to meet his online "girlfriend" where he was met by undercover police officers. They confiscated a webcam and condoms from his car. He was released on a $7,000 bond last night.
Prestonwood Baptist Church
The Prestonwood Baptist Church has been referred to as a "megachurch" with 40 ministers and 26,000 members. Joe Barron was hired 18 months ago and was scheduled to lead a missionary team to Colombia this August. Ironically, Barron's role was marriage counseling at the Prestonwood Church.
Naturally, the Prestonwood church website has been completely scrubbed of all references to Joe Barron after his arrest.
