Add Google Widgets to Your Blog

Google just announced that its widgets can now be placed on your blog. You can add gadgets like Google Maps, Driving Directions, or a calculator. The only danger I see is the MySpace-ification of the blogosphere with how easy it is to add widgets to blogs. All it takes is a little configuration of the widget, and you can stick a small piece of Javascript onto your blog. If you add too many widgets, the page will load slowly and be garish to look at.

Still, a judicious choice of widgets can enhance the functionality and look of your site. If you run a games site, a Hang Man or PacMan widget will fit right in.
