4 8 15 16 23 42: The Lost Numbers Revealed on Youtube

I don't know how many of you follow Lost (the TV show), but if you do, some major secrets have been revealed. A video featuring the reclusive Alvar Hanso was finally pieced together by players of an online Lost game. What do the numbers mean? What is the mysterious illness? These and other questions are answered in the video.

I haven't been following the Lost Experience Alternate Reality Game until recently, but it took over 70 different clues to piece together the entire video. A diverse range of skills including knowledge of ancient mythology, trignometry, anagrams, and ciphers was needed. The most interesting part is the real reason for the game: to make advertising more interesting by having websurfers interact with advertising from Sprite and Verizon. I guess these companies realize the necessity of a new advertising paradigm given the rise in popularity of Tivo and iTunes video where ads can be skipped at will.

If you want to put it on your iPod, follow the directions here and use this URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PPCCcXarkc
