Yahoo Buys MyBlogLog

Yahoo has been on a shopping spree these last few days. First, snapping up online popularity contest site Bix.com, and now MyBlogLog for $10 million. They were apparently impressed by it at the recent Web 2.0 conference. MyBlogLog has gotten some good coverage in the blogosphere and deservedly so in many ways. Essentially, bloggers can use its services to establish a community around their blog.

For instance, Digital Alchemy's community is located here, which I invite interested readers to join. Blogs can add a widget that detects when a MyBlogLog reader has visited and displays a picture and profile link back to MyBlogLog. You might have noticed it lurking on the sidebar for the past week or so. Although there are clear privacy implications, it looks like a lot of blog readers are okay with it given the spread of MyBlogLog widgets.

Yahoo has also announced the purchase of social mobile startup Kenet Works.
