Millie Corretjer is Oscar De La Hoya's Wife

Millie Corretjer is Oscar De La Hoya's wife. She is a 34-year-old Puerto Rican pop singer and married the boxing middleweight in 2001 after dating him less than two years. De La Hoya was considering a career extension into, of all things, music and met her through singing lessons with her former vocal coach.

De La Hoya was initially brusque with his wife-to-be, telling her, "My home is in California, my business is in California, my training camp is in California. It only make sense that we live in California." Corretjer simply replied, "Oscar, we’ll live in Puerto Rico", and now he spends 7 months a year there.

After De La Hoya saw Millie Corretjer perform in her music video of "De Hoy en Adelante", or "From Now On", he wanted her to model for his own video, and they began dating. His self-named CD was nominated for a Grammy when it was released in 2000. They were wed in a ceremony in San Juan. He has five children with four women. Two of them are with Corretjer: Oscar Gabriel in 2005 and Nina Lauren Nenitte in 2007.

When she was 15, Millie Corretjer was the host of a children's TV show, New Wave, that helped them develop their artistic abilities. From this experience, she began to hone her musical ambitions, releasing her first album "Sola", or "Alone", when she was 21. She was propelled to the top of the Billboard list immediately and went on to release three more albums.

Last night, De La Hoya was knocked out by Manny Pacquiao in eight rounds in a "Dream Match" at the MGM Grand. He had offered a suitcase with $250,000 in cash to persuade Pacquiao to sign a seven-fight contract last year, showing that money doesn't buy everything. Pacquiao returned the cash later after a legal scuffle.
