Download Rapidshare Files Easily with RapGet
This is the first post of a series covering software that might be little known in the English-speaking web.
Although there are many file hosting sites, Rapidshare, even with its many limitations on non-premium users, still gets a great deal of traffic. If you've used the service, you know how many annoying hoops it takes to jump through to download a simple file. It's like a textbook case of bad design.
With the Russian-coded downloader RapGet, you can automate most of the process of downloading files from Rapidshare. However, one step that probably won't (can't) be automated is the CAPTCHA step since Rapidshare is constantly innovating in that area.
Invariably, you'll be stymied by the download bandwidth cap, which severely limits downloading by non-premium users. You can ease some of this pain by queuing additional files and letting RapGet wait in line for you. RapGet also supports 66 other file sharing services, including rapidshare.de, megaupload.com and sendspace.com.
Public Service Announcement: Rapidshare is a horrible service and should only be used as a last resort. If you ever need to share files online, take mercy on your fellow leechers by uploading it to a different file sharing service like MediaFire, which supports free unlimited uploads and downloads.Tags:
