"How to Talk to Girls" has been optioned by Fox for a possible theatrical release. The film rights to the 48-page advice book, written by a 9-year-old boy, were sold for low-to-mid six figures. Alex Greven, a fourth grader in Castle Rock, Colorado, wrote the book and self-published it at a school book fair before it was noticed by Harper Collins and released nationwide this November.
Despite his newfound reputation as a self-help guru, Alex Greven, also known as Alec Greven, has only had a crush on one girl, and most of his advice is based on observation. Perhaps his most precocious advice is: "It is easy to spot pretty girls because they have big earrings, fancy dresses and all the jewelry...pretty girls are like cars that need a lot of oil."
The seven chapters in "How to Talk to Girls" range from the facts of life to how to get a girl's attention.
Currently ranked at 103 by Amazon, the bestselling children's book is listed at $9.99 a copy. His original book fair pamphlet sold for $3 a piece.
