The band Nine Inch Nails, or NIN, has released three tracks from their new album Year Zero on The Pirate Bay. That's right: you can use BitTorrent to download "Capital G", "My Violent Heart", and "Me, I'm Not" for free.

The move is definitely a far-sighted attempt to test the waters of new media distribution platforms so it'll be interesting to see what effect on album sales, if any, this has.

In less encouraging news, Ohio University has banned all P2P file-sharing so while some groups are moving progressively, others are trying to turn back the clock.
