YouTube Desktop: A Revolutionary New Way to Watch and Download YouTube Videos?
YouTube Desktop makes some big claims about being a revolutionary development in searching, watching, and downloading videos from YouTube.
Basically, YouTube Desktop re-skins YouTube, adding a lot of functionality that you usually see in a desktop application to a website. You can drag-and-drop YouTube video windows, easily download videos in different formats (AVI, FLV, EXE, and ZIP), and recommend them to your friends. What makes it unique is that you can do it all in one place and without having to reload the page.
Some features like drag-and-drop and resizing videos for viewing on a plasma TV have already been seen before in sites like SofaTube, but YouTube Desktop presents a cleaner interface to surfing YouTube videos.
It's sleekly designed, presenting a lot of information and features in an intuitive way. The only catch is that it is currently in private beta.
